Standing in Waves (2015)

A slowly ascending Risset glissando plays through the speakers; one set of speakers emits sound 180 degrees out of phase from the other set, forming acoustic standing waves. In some areas, the sound cancels, while in others, beating is formed. As the subject moves throughout the space, the amplitude and timbre of the sound fluctuates. If multiple people move in the space, these sonic fluctuations increase, and subjects become aware of how sound reflects off the human body.
